02 · 9-DAY ITINERARY
From Chengdu
to Fenghuang.
This is a considered starting point, not a fixed script. We can adjust the order, activities, food experiences and transport around your interests, fitness and return flight.
DAY 01Chengdu
Pandas and the easy rhythm of Sichuan
Meet your private guide for airport or railway-station pick-up, then visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding when the pandas are most active. Continue with a relaxed walk through a local park and traditional teahouse before an optional Sichuan dinner. Overnight in Chengdu.
DAY 02Chengdu
Old streets, temples and local flavour
Explore Wuhou Shrine and the surrounding historic quarter, then choose between Kuanzhai Alley, a neighbourhood food walk, Sichuan cuisine experience or face-changing opera. The day is deliberately flexible so Chengdu can be enjoyed rather than rushed. Overnight in Chengdu.
DAY 03Chengdu → Chongqing
High-speed rail to the mountain city
Transfer to the station and travel by high-speed train to Chongqing. Meet your local guide and begin with Liziba's monorail viewpoint before discovering layered streets, riverside neighbourhoods and a panoramic city overlook. Overnight in Chongqing.
DAY 04Chongqing
Cliffside lanes and river lights
Move through Chongqing's vertical geography by foot, vehicle and public transit, with stops such as the Great Hall, Shibati or an old riverside street. Taste a local hotpot or lighter regional meal, then see Hongya Cave and the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers after dark. Overnight in Chongqing.
DAY 05Chongqing → Changsha
One bold day in Hunan's capital
Travel to Changsha by high-speed rail and meet your guide on arrival. Visit Yuelu Mountain or Yuelu Academy, walk Orange Isle and finish among the city's energetic food streets, sampling Hunan flavours at your preferred level of spice. Overnight in Changsha.
DAY 06Changsha → Zhangjiajie
Into the sandstone forest
Transfer by high-speed train and private vehicle to Zhangjiajie. Enter the Wulingyuan Scenic Area for your first elevated views, using cable cars and shuttle transport to maximise time among the pillars. The route is selected around weather, visibility and your walking comfort. Overnight in Zhangjiajie.
DAY 07Zhangjiajie
Peaks, bridges and open sky
Spend a full day exploring Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, with options including Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain and the Bailong Elevator. A canyon, glass bridge or quieter hiking route can replace or complement the main viewpoints. Overnight in Zhangjiajie.
DAY 08Zhangjiajie → Fenghuang
Lanterns beside the Tuo River
Travel south by private vehicle or high-speed rail connection to Fenghuang Ancient Town. Walk through the old lanes, cross the river's stepping stones and learn about the area's Miao and Tujia traditions. Stay into the evening as the riverside stilt houses and bridges begin to glow. Overnight in Fenghuang.
DAY 09Fenghuang → Changsha Airport
A final morning, then homeward
Enjoy an early walk or boat ride before leaving Fenghuang. Transfer to Fenghuang Gucheng railway station for a high-speed train to Changsha, where a private vehicle will meet you for the airport transfer. Direct road transport can be arranged when better suited to your flight time.
